How to change warcraft or dota resolution to widescreen - 14 inch widescreen

I noticed that there are a lot of people looking for a solution on how to set your game to your desired resolution without going to game settings or if the game you want to play doesn't have the settings you wanted especially for widescreen laptops. Most of the later games out there don't support the following resolution and the only thing you can do is to alter this by manually digging into your windows reg file.



Step one is to go to regedit (start -> search or run "reg edit)

Step two select (HKEY_CURRENT_USER)

Step three select (SOFTWARE)

Step four select (Blizzard or the game name)

Step five (Look for Video)

Step six (Look for resheight and reswidth)

Step seven (edit resheight -> 1600 -> hexadicimal)

Step eight (edit reswidth -> 900 -> hexadicimal)

The following resolution can changed. 1600x900 applies only for widescreen 14 inch.

Some games cannot be edited through this method, so be aware of that.
